The most exciting part of any team building art event is the planning and designing of the project. This is particularly challenging when you have worked with a group for several years. Their next project needs to be more exciting and captivating than the one before. This November Art at Work designed the INSPIRE project to engage the staff from YMCA‘s all over New Zealand. They were invited to contribute/share their favourite poem, prose, prayer or inspirational quote to the collaborative artwork. The copper framework references a Manu Aute, Maori kite, which sends the messages of hope and love up to the heavens. The text is written onto little white cardboard feathers edged in copper foil.
The artwork will hang in the Auckland YMCA Children’s office in Parnell. A container of blank feathers will sit nearby and visitors to the space will be encouraged to add there own words of wisdom and inspiration and hang it onto the work. Big thanks to Wally Page from Roskill Sheetmetals Works, for manipulating the copper pipe.
