The Auckland Council approached Torbay Primary Enviro Group to paint a mural on the Little Waiake convenience block to bring to the attention of the locals the importance of protecting wildlife in the local streams and sea from pollution. Sue from Art at Work collaborated with the group of 5 young environmentalists and their teacher, Rebecca Cameron from the school to produce the ‘STOP POLLUTING, START PROTECTING’ 3D mural.
After a series of workshops, drawing, designing and painting fish and birds that inhabit the area the mural was installed in this public space. It has brightened up a fairly dull old building and provides an opportunity for local children to bring awareness to an important local issue, clean water and it’s importance to our environment.
Sue can visit your school or holiday programme to deliver innovative art workshops. Art at Work is all about making art together and Sue’s innovative approach is inclusive, supportive and builds on individual strengths and interests.
